Data Intelligence with Integrity
Access Database Development
Experience

As with Excel John Spencer's IT career has run alongside the development of Access. He has taught and developed database solutions that have radically changed the way data can be analysed. Some solutions are totally wrapped in an Access front end and others provide the ability for users to query the Access data directly.

Excel spreadsheets can be used to directly integregate an Access Database using MSQuery, extending the reporting ability.

Often Access will be the step to take when an Excel solution, which was once a perfect fit, has reached capacity and extending further would not be feasible.

Other times the amount of data and relationships that drive it, dictate an Access database from the start.

Benefits of using Access:
  • Widely accessible to users - no extra outlay on software
  • Quick to prototype
  • Capacity to hold very large amounts of data
  • Ability to handle complex systems

Some Examples

Our Flagship Access application is the Marketing Analysis Database described in more detail in the Credit Bank Case Study. Although Access is now a front end to a SQL Server Database, its origins were totally Access, linking via ODBC and text files to other systems through an overnight batch run.

Another recent application is the upsizing of the original Excel and Acces based Quality Assurance system at NGF to an Access front end with a SQL Server database linking to their RFID system and ORACLE orders database.

Gravitas helped a small, specialised Recruitment company improve efficiency by developing a system to process candidate suitability more accurately.
